Darlin’ let me tell you a love story about your Papaw and me. 
The first time I saw him, oh I knew that he was for me. 
It took long enough but then one day, he asked me to be his wife.

One day he took me in his arms and said “I’m going away.”
I held him real tight and said “Don’t you leave.  Stay with me please.
‘Cause I don’t want to be in this world without you.” 
But in a heartbeat, he was gone.
 
Now, I stand by his grave and I start to cry.  “God, has he told you about me?”
But, I love that man just as much today.  “Has he even mentioned my name?”
